KnowBe4 vishing alternative: pay per call vs a seat license

vishin.ai is a pay-per-call alternative to KnowBe4 Simulated Vishing: a call costs 5 tokens, tokens start at $1, and there is no subscription or seat minimum. KnowBe4 fits better if you also want phishing simulation and a large training library in one subscription, while vishin.ai fits better if you test occasionally, run campaigns for several clients, or only need the phone channel.

Key takeaways

  • KnowBe4 sells Simulated Vishing inside a per-seat subscription, with published pricing on a 3-year term and a 25-seat minimum.
  • vishin.ai sells vishing only, per call: 5 tokens a call, tokens from $1, no expiry and no limits on campaigns or users.
  • KnowBe4 is the better fit if you want phishing simulation and a large training library in one platform.
  • vishin.ai is the better fit if you test occasionally, run campaigns for several clients, or only need the phone channel.
  • Compare using your own call volume. The two prices buy different things.

We build vishin.ai, so we are not neutral. This page sticks to what KnowBe4 publishes about itself, links to each source and was last checked on 2 October 2026. Vendor offerings and prices change, so confirm the details with KnowBe4 before you decide.

KnowBe4 is the best-known security awareness platform. In July 2026 it announced a Simulated Vishing feature (KnowBe4 press release), which delivers simulated voice calls using AI-generated speech alongside its other attack simulations. vishin.ai does one thing: AI-driven vishing, sold by the call. The question is which model fits how you work.

How KnowBe4 prices it

KnowBe4's pricing page lists subscriptions in USD per seat per month on a 3-year term, starting at 25 seats. At the time of writing, the Foundation level runs from $2.40 per seat per month at 25 to 50 seats down to $1.63 at 501 to 1,000 seats, and the Advanced level runs from $3.75 down to $2.79 over the same bands. Pricing above 1,000 seats is by quote. KnowBe4's pricing page describes Simulated Vishing as included in its subscription levels and does not list it as a separate add-on. Its press release names the Advanced level. Check which level you need before you buy.

We did not find a published per-call price or call limit for vishing. Ask KnowBe4 whether calls are metered.

A worked example, with our assumptions stated

Take an organization with 50 employees, using KnowBe4's published Advanced rate for that band of $3.75 per seat per month. That is $2,250 per year, committed over the 3-year term, whatever you use it for.

On vishin.ai, calling all 50 employees once is 50 calls, or 250 tokens. Two 100-token packs and one 50-token pack cost $215, and the tokens never expire. Calling everyone four times in a year is $850.

These are not like-for-like. The KnowBe4 price also buys phishing simulation, a training library and reporting that vishin.ai does not offer, and you may be using all of it. The comparison only shows how the two models behave when what you need is phone testing and you need it occasionally.

When KnowBe4 is the better choice

  • You want one platform. If you are buying phishing simulations and training anyway, a vishing feature in the same subscription and the same reports is simpler than a second vendor.
  • You need training content. KnowBe4's published tiers include libraries of 200+ modules (Foundation) and 1000+ (Advanced). vishin.ai gives you results and recommendations but not a training library.
  • You need other languages. KnowBe4 lists English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian for its vishing launch. If you need calls in other languages, check what every vendor supports before you commit.
  • You have a large, steady program. If you will call most of your staff many times a year, a flat per-seat price can work out well, and you can compare it with per-call cost using your own numbers.

When vishin.ai fits better

  • You test occasionally. If you run a vishing test once or twice a year, paying for a subscription all year is hard to justify when you only pay for calls you make.
  • You are a consultant or MSSP. You run separate campaigns for each client, in bursts. Tokens are not tied to one company's headcount and do not expire. See our assessment guide.
  • You want a pilot without a contract. A $10 pack buys two calls, so you can see a real call and its transcript before spending more.
  • You already have training and phishing tools. If you only need the missing phone channel, a focused tool does not add overlap.
  • You want to control the scenario. You write the pretext, the objectives and the failure criteria, and an approval step records who signed off before a campaign launches.

Questions to ask any vendor

  1. How is a call priced, and is there a cap on calls or on campaigns?
  2. Is there a minimum term or seat count?
  3. What do I get after a call: a recording, a transcript, a verdict, a score?
  4. Who approves a campaign before it launches, and is that recorded?
  5. Where are recordings stored, who can open them and how long are they kept?
  6. What happens to my money if a call fails for a technical reason? (On vishin.ai, calls that fail for a technical reason, such as a carrier failure, a cancelled call or an error from our voice provider, are not charged. Calls that go unanswered or reach voicemail are still charged.)
